Chapter 02 · Practice

Sounds for sitting

Nature, ambient pads, music and heart coherence: how to find the sound that suits today's sit.

Some days want silence. Others want rain on the window. The Ambient sound picker on the Timer has both, and a growing library in between.

Picking a sound

  1. Open the Ambient sound menu. Every sound has its own icon and a short hint.
  2. Type to search, or scroll the list. Silence is always first.
  3. Choose a sound to hear a short preview before you commit.

The families

Nature
Rain, Ocean Waves, Fire, Quiet Night: steady and grounding.
Ambient
Ambient Pads 1–4 and Binaural Beats: soft, even textures that don't pull your attention.
Music
Ambient Music, Autumn Sky, Angelic Choir and Ethereal Voice: whole pieces, streamed.
Heart Coherence
HC1, made for heart-opening practice. More tracks are on the way.

How sounds play

  • Sounds fade in when the sit starts and fade out when it ends, never abruptly.
  • Loops are seamless, so a 60-minute sit has no audible seam.
  • The end-of-sit chime always plays over the top, so you'll know when you're done.
Try it

The best way to learn it is to use it.
